What People Say

Replacement for Dairy

This coconut oil from Lucy Bee is so virtuous it is almost like angel's tears.... and I don't mean salty or invisible... New to the UK, Lucy Bee's Extra Virgin Coconut Oil is gluten and lactose free, suitable for vegans and vegetarians, and has no additives or preservatives. It is also fair trade and raw. Beat that!

Try it on Bread

We tried it on some bread, and noted its lightness immediately. It has a delicious delicate, toasty, nutty flavour to it as well and works well as a butter replacement for those dairy intolerants/allergics...

'Lovely to Cook With'

It is also lovely to cook with, whether you are sautéing meat or vegetables, or baking. But maybe the best thing about Lucy Bee's is the price. As any coconut oil enthusiast will know, most of the oils that are currently on the market, delicious though they may be, will set you back nearer £15 than £10 for 500g so to get this quality of oil for under £10 is a really good bargain.

Bake with Coconut Oil

It makes baking with coconut oil almost an everyday possibility rather than for special occasions only! A 500ml jar of Lucy Bee's costs £9.95 and can be bought from any good health food stores.

Fairer Fair Trade

Met the bosses [of Lucy Bee] on Saturday night and enjoyed great discussion including one about Fair Trade. Now I've researched it I find that lucybee fair trade is so much better than the more familiar FT icon. Perhaps lucybee should make this a differential as often I don't buy 'normal' fair trade goods: I would favour lucybee's fair trade system!

Deodorant Tip

Reading up on how many nasty chemicals there are in most high street deodorant brands, I started looking for alternatives. I have tried several alternative more natural deodorants - but most of them didn't seem to do much. Then I found a recipe for coconut oil combined with baking soda, and that works like a charm!

Make Your Own Coconut Oil Deodorant

  • 6 tbsp Lucy Bee coconut oil
  • 1/4 cup baking soda
  • 1/4 cup corn starch (to absorb moisture) (optional)
  • essential oils for a nice smell (optional)

  1. Mix the baking soda and corn starch.
  2. Add the coconut oil (solid state) and mix all the ingredients with a spoon. Stop when the mixture has a firm - but pliable - texture. If you want to, you can now add the essential oils.
  3. Scoop the mix in a glass jar Apply the mixture with your fingers, and don't worry about oil stains - it absorbs very quickly.

If you don't want to make a big batch it also works when you just warm some coconut oil in your palm and sprinkle a bit of baking soda on it and then apply it directly :) No more irritated skin, but lovely soft skin instead - and of course, most important of all: no smell! You can also add some essential oil to it for additional benefits - but it is not necessary.
