9 Beauty Uses of Coconut Oil

'...we love coconut oil so much is because of its wonderful versatility as a beauty product.'

Our Top 9 Beauty Uses for Coconut Oil

Part of the reason why we love coconut oil so much is because of its wonderful versatility as a beauty product. I’ve almost completely replaced all of my beauty products with a jar of Lucy Bee because it’s become such a staple in my beauty regime.

We’ve created a short video sharing our favourite tips for using coconut oil from top to bottom, including oil pulling, make-up remover and hair serum.

Oil Pulling

Nature’s answer to oral hygiene. I find the best way to do this is first thing in the morning. Use a teaspoon of Lucy Bee Coconut Oil and swish it around your mouth in-between your teeth and over your gums for at least 5 minutes. Make sure to spit it out in a bin and not down your drains!

Make-up Remover

This has to be my favourite use for coconut oil – I only use this now! It’s the age-old saying that ‘a little goes a long way’, and it really does when taking off makeup. Leave on for a few seconds and rub off gently with a cotton pad and your skin will feel hydrated and clean!

Cuticles

When you have a moment where you can just sit down and relax, rub a pea-sized amount into your cuticles and allow it to soak into the nail bed.

Hand Moisturiser

Taking a small amount, again, a pea-sized amount, rub into your hands and allow to soak in. Be careful not to use too much, or the skin won’t absorb it thoroughly!

Body Moisturiser

Another one of the favourites. Giving your skin a bit of coconut love can ensure it is protected from the very cold and very hot temperatures that are often most damaging to it.

Hair Serum

This is a great tip for anyone who struggles with flyaway hairs once they’ve dried and styled it. Take the smallest amount in your hands, almost so you can’t see it, and gently apply to the flyaway ends, being careful not to put it on your roots.

Hair Mask

A hair mask is a great way to keep your hair in good condition, especially if you often use styling tools or heat on it. Focusing particularly on the roots and very ends of the hair, rub in some melted coconut oil* and leave for as long as possible – I like to leave it in overnight. Then wash out with two shampoos.

*Please note, what works for one person may not necessarily work for another so we recommend always doing your own research and then trying this on a small area as a test before using as a full treatment.

Deodorant

Since many deodorants have a lot of unwanted chemicals in them, coconut oil can be a popular alternative for a more natural approach. Why not give it a try?

Shaving Balm

Here’s a little tip…putting coconut oil on your legs and then shaving them straight after leaves them shining and so smooth. I’ve never looked back since!
