Bacon or Pancetta Wrapped Dates

  • 200g pitted dates
  • 300g streaky bacon or pancetta cut in half, lengthways


  1. Preheat the oven to 200C, 350F, gas mark 4. Line an oven tray with greaseproof paper.
  2. Individually tightly wrap each date in a piece of bacon or pancetta, making sure the end piece is placed facing down underneath the date on the baking sheet.
  3. Continue to do this with all the dates then bake in the oven for 20-30 minutes, turning half-way through to ensure the bacon is evenly cooked.
  4. Serve as a canapé or a snack.
  5. Tip: you can switch the bacon for pancetta and stuff each date with a cube of (blue) cheese for a tasty alternative – delicious!
